About Phyllis
Hi! I’m Phyllis and I own Jambearies Quilt Co. I started quilting in the early 1990s, and did other crafts as well—painting, ceramics, jewelry making, crocheting…the list goes on! My friend introduced me to her Bernina sewing machine with the embroidery module, and I just had to have one of my own. I can remember fabric shopping with her and finding a fabric I loved, but not having a project in mind, I’d leave it on the shelf. She told me to buy it for my stash…”what’s a stash?” I said. I’m laughing myself silly over that one these days!
After I was laid off from my job in 2008, I floundered for a while, trying to figure out what I wanted to do. I decided to try to turn my passion for fabrics and quilting into a business, and opened my Etsy shop in November of 2009. Since those early days and many, many bolts of fabric later, my husband and I finally built a detached building to accommodate the business. My sewing studio is out there, and most of my inventory. There’s still quite a bit of my personal stash inside the main house—I don’t suppose you can relate to that?!
I love being able to buy fabric, pet it a bit, then sell it to others who will love it. You have to be a quilter to understand that! I’m still running both my Etsy shop and this new website, where I am trying to transition off of the Etsy platform. I hope to build my customer base on here quickly so I can tell those Etsy fees goodbye!
I love connecting with my customers, so if you have any questions or would like a custom listing, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me. I AM the whole shop, so please be patient if I don’t see your message right away.
Thank you for stopping in and learning about Jambearies and me.
Happy quilting!
Phyllis
