Pride in the name of RUN!!!
Wow what a morning, headed out around 8:15 for a run. My portion of the Tom Taylor Trail near my house is a 5k loop, 1.5 of it has some little hills, I did that first then did the 3.5 k”loop” twice and ended up doing 8.31 in 57 minutes which was amazing. I didn’t walk at all. It felt great being able to do it running on my own because the only one that would have slowed my was me.The last kilometre was tough, I could feel my one knee start to twinge and my thighs were burning but I made it. Very proud of myself.
Just like the Energizer bunny!!
What a difference, I ran with the Running Free guys again tonight and they are a great motivation to keep going. I realize I must talk myself out of running when I’m on my own. But running with other people gives you that kick to keep going. I did go out fast again as Scott reminded me ( Thank you) but once I got into my groove the run feels so smooth. I ended my run tonight by saying “I think I’m getting the hang of this” Hopefully I am. Ended the night with a kundalini yoga class (my first in that style) was a lot of fun. Now home having my protein smoothie reflecting………..
One Third
I just got back from my run with the Running Free group and I have to say I rocked tonight. This was the first time ever I ran over 8k without slowing down to walk (only time we did was at 2 sets of traffic lights. )And that has me one third of the way to a half marathon. I started out with 2 girls that were a bit faster than I usually am but stayed with them for a kilometre and a half before I thought I better slow down a bit. Then My Twitter buddy Scott started with me and I honestly don’t think i could have done it with out him tonight. Mentally I didn’t want to slow down because I knew he was there with me, I really appreciate that he did stay at my pace tonight because I know it was way below his usual. Thanks Scott!! After the run we did a yoga class at the store which help loosen things. Home now just had a bath and I feel great. btw 8.23k in 1hr 3min and feel great
Family Day
Well headed out just after lunch, Fairy Lake was pretty busy, nice to see so many people out enjoying a perfect day. I ran 3.16k in around 27 minutes. Felt a bit sluggish but it was nice to get out. I am just chilling tonight , have my running group tomorrow night and it will be my long run.
Morning running
I am so proud of myself, I got my running gear ready last night with the intention of running in the morning. Got up at 6 and wavered for a while trying to decide if I was going out or not. At 7 I saw the sky brighten and got my gear on and headed out. The sidewalks were a bit treacherous and I just about lost it at the end of my driveway. Made it to the park and very happy the Town of Newmarket takes care of the run/walk path and it was pretty clear. Made it home and the only one up was my son Alex and he seemed shocked when I came through the door.
That was only my second morning run (non race related) and it felt amazing. Near the end of my run the sun was really starting to shine and with the fresh snow from yesterday I felt like I was running in a postcard. Will definitely try to head out early more often. I went out for 3.59K in 27 minutes and still had time to make it home for breakfast and bath before going to work.
Payback!!
Well. I think all the junk food the last couple of days came back to haunt me, when I ran this morning my stomach started to hurt and I found myself belching like crazy just to make it better. Was a nice run scenically, I went out on the trail from Tuesday night and was nice to see it during the day. Didn’t make it as far or as fast but I got out there. I must say I must be quite entertaining to watch running, belching aside I usually sing to myself, out loud sometimes. I will shake my hands to loosen up too while running. So if you see some weird chick singing and waving…..might be me LOL Hopefully my stomach will settle and I can feel more comfortable running tomorrow.
I’m not alone
Went out to my Running Free store for their Beginner, Half Marathon Training group, it is week 6 of the program and this was my first time out. I’ve never really run with other people before, I guess I’m shy and not always comfortable in new situations on my own. I met a couple of my Twitter mates which was cool. We headed out onto the trail and enjoyed every minute. It was a great trail to run, paved with a good mix of flat and a couple of good hills. I honestly pushed myself a bit and the last couple of kilometres were a bit tough but I was happy with my effort. not a lot of walking. Man I love this running thing!!!!
I’m on fire
Got ambitious and instead of a relax workout at home , I headed to the track and did a quickie run of 3.01k in 22minutes. Runs help clear my head of thoughts and some stresses and it was something I needed to do
no running tonight
I think I am going to take a Sunday night off from running. Between my 8k yesterday and my snowshoeing earlier I am officially pooped. Might do. Hip Hop Abs as a light workout instead. The snowshoeing was fun it uses muscles differently that running and I’m a bit sore. I would recommend it as a great outdoor winter activity.
